Position Overview
The Parts Quality Analyst will support the administration and oversight of part quality inspections throughout the company's distribution network. This temporary role (1-3 months) focuses on evaluating current and incoming inventory, coordinating inspection activities, managing defect and damage claims with suppliers, and ensuring proper documentation across multiple systems.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced in automotive parts quality or related functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with internal teams-including the Parts Helpdesk, Supply, Brand, Warranty, and Compliance groups-to coordinate inspection processes for current and incoming inventory at Parts Distribution Centers (PDCs).
- Lead rework and relabeling efforts, collaborating closely with cross-functional partners and the Quality Packaging Engineer to ensure proper methods and accurate cost estimates.
- Monitor, track, and report on active and completed inspections, including performance metrics and historical inspection data.
- Submit, evaluate, and manage supplier claims related to damaged or defective parts, including contesting outcomes that do not align with organizational policy.
- Execute special assignments or reporting requests as directed by management.
- Maintain and update inspection flags (E-Freeze) in systems such as AMOS and Smartsheet.
- Ensure timely processing of official quality announcements by communicating with the appropriate contacts both internally and externally, completing required steps within the company's systems.
Key Performance Indicators
- On-time completion of required stock inspections and monthly KPI documentation.
- Timely processing of official quality announcements and other part-quality-related activities.
- Submission of supplier claims within 10 business days (14 calendar days).
- Achieving a minimum technical claim acceptance rate of 65%, supporting overall supplier acceptance goals.
- Accurate tracking and reporting of inspection activity and claim trends.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree preferred, ideally related to automotive, engineering, or a similar field.
- Equivalent experience demonstrating deep knowledge of automotive parts will also be considered.
Experience
- 5+ years of experience in automotive parts or a closely related field (required).
- Familiarity with:
- Parts catalogs
- Adobe Suite
- Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio, Outlook, Word)
- Smartsheet dashboards
- Communicating technical details through photos
Skills & Competencies
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, especially when providing direction to suppliers, PDC teams, and internal stakeholders.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Intermediate computer proficiency, including database usage and spreadsheet management.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and apply critical thinking to identify issues or improvements.
- Capable of creating process maps and troubleshooting system-related challenges.
- Strong organizational skills and comfort working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
